Fresh Seafood

Right out of the ocean. Fish, Calamares, Camarones ….

Mariscos Nadel is a local fresh seafood vendor located in the center of Puerto Armuelles. Just past the Dolphin statue coming into the center of town, he is on the right after two vegetable stands and almost directly in front of Mini Market Pacifico. He has a big cooler and sits on the back of his truck.

The seafood there consists mainly of fresh large shrimp, frozen octopus, frozen grouper, and sometimes whole red snapper. On very rare occasions, if you're lucky, they will have frozen lobsters and/or frozen crab.

The shrimp is loose so you can buy as much or as little as you want, but the octopus is sold in 2 pound frozen blocks and so is the grouper.

Prices vary, but we have always found Senor Nadel to be fair. His fish is of good quality and he consistently charges you the same price on things (prices don't change on you). We have found his prices to be at or below the other vendors in town, and his quality to be a little better than others.

Senor Nadel is generally there in the mornings during the week, not usually past about 1 or 2 pm.

Call before going to make sure he will be there that day, or to find out his inventory for a given day. Mariscos Nadel at 507-6501-7089.

Senor Nadel does not speak any English, but you can use one word Spanish words to tell him what you need, e.g. “una libra” and “mariscos” like we do.

If you do speak Spanish, you may be able to negotiate prices. /
